The state of Minnesota DNR has honored Fire Arms Safety Training Instructor Roger Weske for generously contributing his own time educating area residents for over 40 years. Sponsored by the Browerville Sportsman’s Club, area youths, along with a few adults, learn the value of knowing the rules and regulations along with the importance and responsibility of handling firearms with care.

The Browerville students chose their 1999 Homecoming Royalty last week and the king and queen were crowned at a program held at the school on Monday night. Crowned were: Queen Tina Lucas, daughter of Walt and Kathy Lucas, and King Justin Ostrowski, son of Mike and Roxanne Ostrowski.

A copy of this week’s front page of The Blade will be placed in a special vault of the cornerstone of the new Minneapolis Star and Tribune building along with other current information. This vault will be opened in the year 2048 so that people then can see how our present civilization lived—Walter and Clara Horstman, editors.

A determined Browerville football team won a hard fought game here Friday afternoon. The game was a thriller. The end of the first quarter saw the score 0-0. Then, the line backing of Bob Schwartz and the passing of this football player saw the Bertha team score immediately following the beginning of the second quarter.
