Notice to all users of electricity. You are respectfully asked to curtail your use of electricity 20 percent beginning at once. Unprecedented drought has created an emergency which makes it necessary to curtail the use of electricity—now. September was the driest month in the history of Duluth’s weather bureau (77 years). Voluntary compliance will work to the advantage of everyone and you may avoid a more serious curtailment later on. We deeply regret the necessity for this request. It is not pleasant for us, and you may be sure that we shall be quick in restoring full service at the earliest possible time. We’ll keep you informed.

Good rural roads affect the prosperity of urban and rural residents alike, Mary Miles, executive Secretary of the Minnesota Good Roads Association, said in an appeal for urban support for Amendment No. 1, the so-called 50-50 gas tax amendment. The greater part of the urban industry in Minnesota, it is pointed out, is devoted to the processing and marketing of farm products and suppling machinery and other commodities needed by the farmers.
