25 Years Ago

December 31, 1998

In April of 1998, Jeff VanVoorhis was one of many people who questioned the wisdom of bringing large scale hog feedlots into our area. Many concerns were raised but the Gessell’s well prepared presentation attempted to answer most of them. Gessels hope to form partnerships with local farmers in their hog business.

In January of 1998, after 14 years in business, Russ and Jan Noland have sold Jordahl’s Grocery to Steve and Sonja Pearson.


75 Years Ago

December 30, 1948

The 4-H and rural youth public speaking contest will be held again this year. Topic for this year’s contest is: “What My Home Means to Me”. There are two subheadings, “What I May Expect From My Parents,” and, “What My Parents May Expect From Me.”

Governor Youngdahl called upon the people of Minnesota to join forces with the national Safety Council and 130 other cooperating organizations which are seeking to make it a merrier Christmas for everyone by conducting a nationwide campaign to curb holiday accidents.
