This May, thousands of high school seniors across the country will march across auditorium floors to receive their high school diplomas which will indicate...what exactly? The purpose of the national Goals 2000 push is to provide a consistent, clearly defined answer. Nancy Bartz has been the graduation standards technician for Browerville for three years. She attends monthly training sessions. Bartz says that some Browerville teachers are “on board” with the standards and are working hard to implement them into the classrooms. Others, have been somewhat resistant.

A creative writing assignment for the fifth and sixth graders at Christ the King School resulted in some interesting and valuable items for the silent auction at the annual Sweetheart’s Ball, which will be held this Saturday at the Clarissa Ballroom. Each student chose a sports celebrity to write and ask for an autograph to donate to the silent auction. They received four responses. Signed autographs were sent by Reggie White, Green Bay Packers; Minnesota Quarterback Brad Johnson; Dallas Cowboys Troy Aikman and Superbowl MVP John Elway.

At a bridal shower in honor of Miss Lucille Irsfeld, which was held at the John Janousek home last Thursday evening, the following won prizes: Mrs. Ana Borgert, Mrs. Bryon Monnie, Mrs. Gertrude Kahlert and Mrs. Jim Strach.
