May 6, 1999

Kelly Lucas and Lynn Geraets displayed the 1999 Browerville Days tee-shirts on sale at American Heritage National Bank, the Browerville Liquor Store and other locations. Buying and wearing the attractive shirts and sweatshirts are a great way to show your support for Browerville Days.

Eight members of the Browerville FFA Chapter participated in career development events at the U of M St. Paul Campus on April 26 and 27. Representing Browerville in the Poultry Contest were Steve and Ryan Baron, Darren Remer and Candy Buhl. The poultry team placed ninth out of 41 teams and received a gold ribbon.


75 Years Ago

May 5, 1949

Careless grass burning in Bruce Township on Thursday morning set fire to a Minnesota Power and Light Company pole, which crashed to the ground and thereby caused more than an hour’s power outage in Browerville, Long Prairie, Grey Eagle, Burtrum, Swanville and an adjacent farm line. The interruption was the longest to be reported in this area for a considerable time and all company efforts to speedily remedy the situation were nullified as the utility company ran into one complication after another.

Two successive school patrol safety and conservation camps will be conducted next month by the American Legion, Department of Minnesota. Each camp will run a full week, the first from June 5-12, and the second from June 12 to 19. The location this year will be at the fairgrounds on Rice Lake in Brainerd. The camp will accommodate 125 boys each week.
