Road crews worked right through the midday heat on Tuesday, July 27, as temperatures soared in the mid-90’s. Later in the week, the temperatures at the bank showed over 100 degrees. Browerville Hardware sold out of air conditioners and ice was a popular commodity at the grocery and liquor stores. Work continues on County Road 14, from Browerville to the Morrison County line.

August 9-11 are the dates of the 66th annual Todd County Fair and this year as in the past the management is sparing no expense in living up to the fair slogan of “Fun For Everyone.” Fairs are places of amusement for young and old folks alike, and with the 1949 program well settled there is every indication that grandpa, grandma, mother, father and all the children will enjoy at least one day at the Todd County Fair.

Several new homes in the village are nearing completion. They are Tom Scharnoski, Mrs. Mary Kilanowski, Tom A. Buhl, and one home just started by Leo Borgert. Albert Golla is in a newly remodeled home and Leo Sadlo is rapidly finishing his remodeling. Just outside the village limits the homes of Frank Hillmer and Vincent Kurpers have recently been completed.
