Jerry Steinmetz, AKA Big Eddie, AKA “Mr. Browerville”—to many he will be dearly missed after his retirement this month as the manager of the municipal liquor store for the past 28 years. But his work there is just a fraction of what Jerry has given to the community and rural Minnesota.

New Browerville teachers: Julie Savoie, fourth grade teacher; Dave VanLaarhoven of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Angie Turner, second grade teacher at Christ the King; Roger Irsfeld, computer technology coordinator; Chuck Thieschafer, first grade at Christ the King; and Rachel Bounds, senior math.

With the state bonus payments due to start this fall, ex-service men were last week requested by C.A. Dahlman, Todd register of deeds, to get their certified copies of discharge as soon as possible in order to be ready when the bonus payments begin.

A bit of the Old South is being grown in the village. Mrs. Joe Holler has 25 cotton plants growing in her garden this year. They are now in full bloom. What is even more interesting is the fact that this is the second year Mrs. Holler has grown cotton plants in her garden. But she says that frost may kill the plants before cotton can grow.
