25 Years Ago

December 30, 1999

The Browerville Area Food Shelf found a new home in 1999. It moved from the basement of city hall to a main floor space in the “old” city hall. According to Florence Rickbeil, client use at the food shelf has increased more than 40 percent over 1998. The food shelf is open each Wednesday and is available to any family in need from the Browerville, Clarissa and Eagle Bend communities.

On Monday, December 20, the Tigers defeated Verndale 71 to 56 in the Parkers Prairie Holiday Tournament. The Tigers played aggressively as well as defensively. The Tigers went on a 22-89 run into the third quarter to put the game out of contention. Four players were in the double figures—Dan Jonckowski with 26, Mitch Johnson with 13, Ryan Gritz with 12 and Jacob Boone with 11.


75 Years Ago

December 29, 1949

The Browerville Independent basketball team will play the College All-Stars on Wednesday, December 28, at 8 p.m., at the Paderewski Auditorium. The local team is seeking revenge for last year’s defeat. Come and support your team.

Earl Mittag, tester supervisor of the Todd County DHIA, reported the average production per cow for November was 27.9 pounds of butterfat. A total of 410 cows were included in the program during the month. A total of 313 cows were in production while 97 head were dry at the time of the tester’s various visits.
