The Brownie Girl Scouts from Browerville were among the many who traveled to Wadena on Saturday for a “Magic School Bus” adventure. The girls were able to participate in hands on scientific activities and experiments. Annie Boser and Kimmi Becker are pictured showing a bat house the girls built as one of their projects.

The Browerville Dance Line hosted an Open House and Recital last Friday evening at the high school gym. Students were able to show their parents and other guests the routines they have been doing through the season, and a couple of new ones. After the program, students presented Dance Line Director Nancy Lamusga with flowers as a thank you for the support.


75 Years Ago

March 30, 1950

Peter P. Plotnik has been named as chairman of the Browerville area in a building fund drive for the erection of a $700,000 residence hall on the campus of St. John’s University, Collegeville. The appointment of Mr. Plotnik, an alumnus of 1924 was announced by the Rt. Rev. Alevin Deutsch, O.S.B., president of the university. The building fund program, the first in the 92-year history of the school, was initiated by the St. John’s Alumni Association.

As of Monday, March 13, there were 233,025 applications received for the Minnesota World War II bonus. Acknowledgments mailed to date total 207,650. Determination notices have been mailed to 153,160. Signed acceptances received to date total 151,928. A total of 132,035 checks have been mailed totaling $40,591,056, averaging $307 per check.
