25 Years Ago

January 4, 1996

Eleven-year-old Jamie Dreher, who nearly lost his right leg Christmas Eve morning in an accident on his parent’s farm, is in good spirits and hoping for a good recovery. Jamie was in the silo when his leg was caught and wrapped in the auger.

The Browerville Tigers opened their Holiday Tournament with a win over the Parkers Prairie Panthers 75-51. The Tigers took on Verndale who had defeated Eagle Valley the previous day to advance to the finals. In a close game, Browerville was victorious 76-52. Jason Noska and Brent Field were both named by the coaches as All-Tournament players.

The year 1995 in review: August 17, Chris Gorr part-time Browerville police officer. November 9, the Browerville Tigers captured their sixth straight section championship. July 20, Scott Bentz of Browerville participated in the Special Olympics World Games. September 7, last day of work for many at Land O’ Lakes. February 9, fire destroys main street business at Duane Sweet’s Repair Shop.
