25 Years Ago

May 9, 1996

For the first time in its sixty-year history, Browerville FFA has a State Champion Judging Team! The land judging team placed first out of 41 teams at the U of M St. Paul Campus on April 29. Congratulations to Paul and Ryan Perish, sons of Robert and Arylis Perish, and Jason Biel, son of Ken and Lois Biel.

On Monday, April 29, the Tigers hosted Parkers Prairie and came away with a victory, 5-4. Key hits by Elizabeth LaVoie, Kim Callahan and Robin Beck helped propel the offense. Amy Benning pitched all seven innings, giving up five walks, seven hits, and four runs. Leading hitters for the Tigers were: Stacy Gonsior with two, Elizabeth LaVoie with two and Lindsay Michael, Robin Beck, Michelle Carstensen, Missy Carpenter and Sarah Brown, all with one hit.


75 Years Ago

May 11, 1946

A business deal was closed this week whereby Frank Plotnik of Swanville became the owner of the Robert Plotnik property located on Main Street just north of the new creamery. The building is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. John Korblick where they maintain living quarters and where Mrs. Korblick operates a beauty shop.

A miscellaneous bridal shower was held at Horseshoe Lake Pavilion on Friday night for Miss Sally Stepaniak whose marriage to August Drong will take place in Browerville on May 26.
