Gram Bentz played with the Albany Babe Ruth team during the Babe Ruth State Tournament August 1-4. They opened the Babe Ruth Tournament with a 6-4 win over Roseau on Thursday. On Friday the team faced Menahga and lost a good game 4-3. Late on Friday, they played Minneapolis Roosevelt in the loser’s bracket and a 10-run ruled them in 5. Sunday was the championship game against Melrose and the Babe Ruth team lost 2-0.

Stephanie Zigan, 18, daughter of Richard and Sharon Zigan of Browerville, was named as a Top Ten Finalist at the 1996 Teen Achievers of America program held at St. Cloud University in St. Cloud August 2-4.

On June 22, James, David and Mike Rolfs ran in the 20th Annual Grandma’s Marathon held in Duluth. There were 7316 runners competing with 5568 runners finishing in the allotted six hours. The race was 26 plus miles from Two Harbors to Duluth. David’s placing was 199, James 717 and Mike 1236. This was the largest group to enter since 1925.

On Saturday, August 17, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. the new Todd County court facility will host an open house with a dedication ceremony at noon. Everyone is welcome to attend.
