Lyle Winter of Browerville received special recognition for outstanding service to Legend Seeds at its annual district sales managers kickoff meeting held in Brookings, South Dakota from July 9-11. Lyle had superior increases in sales of both corn and soybeans throughout his district in Central Minnesota.

On Friday, August 16, the Browerville Fire Department was called to a house fire at the Pat and Christie Johnson home in Browerville. The entire house received heavy smoke damage and there was quite a bit of damage to the kitchen area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation announced that Browerville School District #787 has joined the Academic League as a 1996-1997 member. As a service of the foundation, they provide assistance to schools in planning and delivering organized challenges, recognition and enrichment opportunities for their students.

The Browerville Public School will open on September 16. The faculty personnel is as follows: Mrs. Pauline Dean, lower grades; Mrs. Joseph John, upper grades; Miss D. J. Vitali, social studies and girls physical education; Mr. Glen Anderson, science, mathematics and band; Mrs. A.S. Blenkush, commercial subjects; Mrs. Raymond Wodarz, principal, librarian and English; Mr. A.S. Blenkush, superintendent, coach and boys physical education.
