The Great Pumpkin has made an appearance at Barb Spychalla’s fourth-grade class. The students are enjoying the 182-pound pumpkin grown by Lester Buysse. Later on, it will be part of a fall display at Christ the King. Students pictured were Kacy Dickinson, Brandon Schaefer and Kellie Maschler.

James E. Nier, commander-in-chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, has announced the award of a Golden Anniversary Citation to the VFW Post 8391, Browerville. The post will be 50 years old on October 3.

Pipelines are being laid this week from the pump station in the central part of the village, making it possible for residents on the west side to enjoy the privilege of modernized conveniences. Other water main extensions in the northeast part of the village are also being considered at this time.

A new VFW Post will start up here. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post will be honored in this village next Thursday night with ceremonies held at the city hall. A class of 35 veterans will join in this occasion.
