According to Jim Steinmetz, he had no idea that the two men he gave a ride last Saturday evening to the Budget Inn in Long Prairie were anything but a couple of “nice, clean-cut guys.” And he had no way of knowing that they were wanted for questioning in a pair of burglaries at Tammy’s Bar and Grill in Hewitt and at Midway Gas and Bar located south of Long Prairie. Steinmetz said he met the pair at The Cafe in Browerville and because they were talking friendly with people there, he thought they knew them.
