On Wednesday, November 20, the students, staff and parents at Christ the King School, honored Catherine Krog for her leadership. This was part of the nationwide celebration of the National Day of Appreciation for Catholic School Principals. This celebration was instituted by the National Catholic Education Association six years ago. This association calls upon the local school community to express its gratitude to its principal for the direction, dedication and drive that the administrator brings to the education of young children. Mrs. Krog was honored at a school Mass with gifts, cards and flowers. Mr. Chris Johnson presented her with a specially designed crystal bowl that had a special Catholic School principal’s logo etched into it.

On Wednesday, the Eagle Valley first-grade students will host a feast to celebrate Thanksgiving. The meal starts at 11 a.m. and all parents are invited. The students worked on their book “Pilgrim Pilgrim” a review of what they had learned about Thanksgiving. Pictured were Jorey Johnson, Trevor Ahrendt, Patrick Perish, Katie Perish, Tim Hanson, Amber Denny, Justin Smith, Natasha Harnack, Tyler Notch, Emily Olson, Andrew Dreger and Elizabeth Alvarado.

A request by the Todd County Historical Society (TCHS) for an additional $5000 over last year’s budget was rejected by the Todd County Commissioners at their November 19 meeting. Wilma Finseth of the TCHS presented their proposed budget for 1997, which included $15,000 in income from the county. County Auditor Joyce Rosenow said the county contributed $10,000 in 1996. The county also paid the city of Long Prairie $3,900 for street improvements by the museum. The county’s budget includes $10,000 for the historical society.

A Scandinavian Christmas concert and social will be held on Sunday evening, December 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clarissa. A buffet table of Scandinavian sweets and coffee will be featured.
