Middendorfs are the Todd County Farm Family of the Year
by Kathy Wiirre
Paul and Bonnie Middendorf of Browerville were quite surprised to find out their names were submitted to the University of Minnesota for the Farm Family of the Year in Todd County.
The official awards were handed out on August 7 at Minnesota Farmfest.
The Farm Family Recognition Program has honored Minnesota
Farmers since 1979. It is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension, the College of Food, Agricultural and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Each year one family per county is chosen for their demonstrated commitment to their communities and to enhancing and supporting agriculture.
The Middendorfs have 70 registered milk cows. They have quite a unique way of naming each cow. Each calf is named after its mother. If the mother’s name starts with the letter “J” all her calves’ names start with the letter “J”.
Every family member from children to grandchildren helps with operations on the farm. . .
