MnDOT unveils major highway upgrades at Wadena open house

by Trinity Gruenberg
MnDOT held an open house at the Maslowski Wellness Center in Wadena on Tuesday, February 25. Residents stopped by to see the projected timeline and details of the upcoming road work on Highways 10, 29 and 71 in Wadena to take place through 2027.
Prep work has already begun, resulting in periodic lane and shoulder closures and flaggers controlling traffic as crews prepare work areas.
Now, through June, crews will work to relocate utility lines, clear trees along the road, install temporary crossovers on Hwy. 10, set up traffic control devices, and demo buildings.
Construction will begin this June on Highway 10 west of Wadena at 620th Ave., Otter Tail County, to the east of Wadena at Oink Joint Rd./140th St. It will be expanded to four lanes.
Construction will be west of County Road 20 to construct half of the new road. On Highway 10, east of Highway 71, there will be no work on the mainline; off-road work may occur....
