Multiple airlifts needed after serious rollover accident near Sebeka
According to the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, July 17, at approximately 3:17 p.m., they received a 911 call of a single vehicle roll over, north of Sebeka. It was reported the accident scene was located in Section 27 of Red Eye Township, on 298th Street.
Law enforcement, fire and rescue and medical personnel responded to the scene and found a 1997 GMC extended cab pickup with damage consistent with a roll over.
They also found five individuals outside the vehicle, which all had been occupants of the vehicle when the crash occurred. Three of the five had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash and two had exited the vehicle on their own after the crash. The occupants had injuries that were described as minor to critical by medical personnel on scene.
It was learned, four of the occupants were juvenile males and one occupant was an adult male.
Three medivac helicopters and one ambulance were brought in to transport four of the occupants from the scene. One occupant was transported from the scene by his parents.
Speed is believed to be a possible contributor to the cause of the crash. Driver impairment is not believed to be a contributor to the cause of the crash, at this time.
No names are being released, as this crash is still under investigation.
The condition of the injured occupants is unknown at the time of this media release.
