New sign directs worshipers in Clarissa
by Karin L. Nauber
In April of 2021, Father Mitchell Bechtold presented the idea of a sign that could be set up that would promote the Christian churches in Clarissa.
“I presented the idea to the other pastors. Covid had us distanced for so long that I was looking for a project which would bring us together; something to rally around,” said Bechtold.
Most of the churches in Clarissa are located in residential areas and they can be easily overlooked, especially by those who are unfamiliar with the area or those people looking for a steeple rising above the tree line.
“Saint Joseph’s, for example, had only a modest sign on the highway indicating its location,” he noted.
Since many of the pastors of the area Christian churches already had a good relationship, often gathering at Granny’s in Eagle Bend for lunch and good conversation (pre-Covid), Bechtold was hopeful they would like the idea. . .
