Wadena County’s newest commissioner for District 1, Ron Noon, isn’t a stranger to the position.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, he moved to Tracy, Minnesota, when he was a child. They ended up in Cottonwood where he graduated from high school. It was there he met his wife Gretchen. They have been happily married for 41 years and have two kids Ben and Bria (Brittany).
His grandparents and aunts were featured in a local movie “How To Speak Minnesotan” by Howard Mohr, a Cottonwood native.
He worked for the Granite Falls Police Department in the 1980s. A position opened up with the Wadena Police Department and Noon was hired in 1987. He had another option to work in Maple Grove, but his wife didn’t want to raise their kids in the metro area.
Noon served on the Wadena Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2012. . .
