Old Wadena destroyed by EF2 tornado

Memorial Day, May 30, 2022, will be remembered for more than just honoring our past veterans...it was a day of destruction and devastation in the form of weather. The National Weather Service continues to compile the number of tornadoes that ripped through the state that day. The number compiled was 14 as of Sunday, June 6.
Old Wadena was not spared from the storm that fateful day. The campground and a path of trees were completely leveled. The new pavilion and the large trees that once covered the site with shade were completely destroyed. The artifacts and the fairy garden were spared as the trees fell around them. . .
