Open house held regarding Highway 10 reconstruction
by Trinity Gruenberg
An open house was held at the Maslowski Wellness Center for the proposed Highway 10 four-lane expansion project.
MnDOT is looking to work on six miles on Highway 10 from east of Wadena at 620th Avenue to west of Wadena at Oink Joint Road, to expand the two-lane into a four-lane.
This is the only section of Highway 10 in the state that is not a four-lane.
Maps were laid out on two tables for the public to see what MnDOT proposes to do.
In April 2021, District 3 received $5 million of Project Development Bond Funds for the Highway 10 gap project from the bonding package passed in fall 2020. An additional $30 million of Trunk Highway Bond Funds was appropriated for the project in June 2021 as part of the 2021 Omnibus Transportation Bill to look into making this section a four-lane. This is something that doesn’t happen often.
“When people drive through Highway 10, they expect a four-lane, not a stretch of two-lane back to four-lane,” explained Eric Schiller, project manager. . .
