Pirates battle Wolverines and Tigers

The Verndale Pirates dropped their first Park Region Conference game 43-60 against the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines. Due to illness and injuries, the Pirates were playing shorthanded; yet, the Pirates managed to stay with WDC for much of the game. The Wolverines’ hot shooting stopped the Pirates' comeback as they shot 45% (9/20) from the 3-point line. Katie Blaha led the Pirates with her first double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kaija Madsen joined Blaha in double figures, scoring 10 points. . .
