Pirates take down Mille Lacs, fall to WHA and Henning

Last week the Verndale Pirates returned home after seven consecutive games on the road to host three games at home.
They started out their week on Tuesday by hosting the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves who came to town with an 8-1 record on the season.
The Wolves came out on top in this one by a score of 81-63 as their presence in the paint proved to be more than the Pirates could handle that night.
The Pirates were led in scoring by Carter White, Braylin Deleon, and Shawn Schmitz with 18, 18 and 17 points respectively.
Shawn Schmitz had a double-double on the night as he also grabbed a team high 13 rebounds. Schmitz had 5 assists on the night as well.

On Thursday, January 16, the Henning Hornets came to town with an 11-2 record and left with a win over the Pirates by a score of 75-59....
