Playground update is on the horizon

The Verndale School is turning to the public for help updating the school’s playground equipment.

Rachel Johnson, education assistant with Sourcewell, is working on her principal and superintendent’s license—working with her mentors Principal Katie Bolland and Superintendent Jeannie Mayer. As part of her practicum and hours needed for her license, Mayer gave Johnson the task to update the school’s playground.

The current playground equipment is 20 years old and isn’t accessible to children with physical disabilities. It isn’t easy to get a wheelchair through the wood chips. . .
