Raiders finish 7th at Sertoma
by Michael Arvidson
The Raiders began last week with a triangular at Royalton on Tuesday with two very competitive duals.
The opening round was against the Hornets from Frazee. Just like every year it seems; the dual came down to one match here or there that made the difference.
Nikolai Hagen opened the scoring for BHVPP with a forfeit and the Hornets evened it with a fall at 114.
Mason Hoffman, Logan Becker, and Wyatt Jares delivered pins to extend the lead out to 24-6.
Frazee earned a fall and Preston Captain picked up the decision in the middle bout to make it 27-12.
Then the Hornets went on a five-match win streak to take the lead and put the dual out of reach.
Braden Shamp collected a fall at 285 to make the final mark 37-33.
The nightcap against the hosts played out in similar fashion as BHVPP had its chances and let it slip away.
The Royals turned a deficit at 107 into a fall before Hoffman evened the score.
Micah Stanley, Becker, Wyatt Black, and Preston Captain collected forfeits with a Wyatt Jares fall sandwiched in the middle and the Raiders were up 36-6.
However, the Royals gained momentum at 152 when the match played out just like the opening bout.
They would run the table, including an ultimate tie breaker win at 285, to claim the dual 37-36. The individual match results were as followed:
Frazee 37 BHVPP 33
107-Nikolai Hagen received a Forfeit
114-Ashton Reller (FRZ) Fall Micah Stanley 5:58
121-Mason Hoffman Fall Christian Peichel (FRZ) 5:15
127-Logan Becker Fall Josiah Drewes (FRZ) 5:35
133-Wyatt Jares Fall Ethan Royer (FRZ) 1:11 ...
