Rail cam comes to Verndale

Verndale is the newest location for a railroad camera. People from around the world can watch the trains pass through town on a YouTube live stream under the name Northern Transcon Railcams-Otter Tail Channel.
Rich Luth of Perham began this venture in July of 2013 after he filmed a demolition derby in Perham. He began filming trains with a camera in Perham in 2018 and had 78 subscribers. He set up a camera through his garage window with no sound.
The Advanced Train Control System monitors show any train from Fargo to The Cities. Luth previously was a host for the system. As trains passed, he would pick up their radio signal and convert it to a digital signal that could be seen on a computer. . .
