Eagle Bend firemen rolled up frozen hoses after an early morning fire on Christmas Eve day. It was 22 below zero at 7:30 a.m. when the firemen were called to the Terry Hopp residence three miles south of town on County Road 3. Hay in a shed caught fire when a pickup in the shed backfired when attempts were made to start it. Firemen were on the scene about three hours pitching smoldering hay out of the shed. The fire did little damage to the structure.
