Andy Lancaster, a 1993 graduate of Eagle Valley, qualified for the 1997 NCAA Division II wrestling championships in Fargo, North Dakota, on March 14 and 15. Andy attends Southwest State University in Marshall. He is in physical education and coaching. In the first round of the 175-pound weight class, Andy wrestled against number eight seed Greg O’Neil of Southern Connecticut State. Andy won 11-0.

Eagle Valley Boys Basketball award winners: Neil Greenwaldt, MVP, Mr. Offense, All-Conference; Darin Dickinson, Mr. Hustle, All-Conference Honorable Mention; Jesse Christenson, Mr. Defense, All-Conference Honorable Mention; Mike Pontius, Most Improved.

The Eagle Bend Education Association comprised of teachers teaching within the Eagle Bend School system selected Mr. Melvin Lloyd as their candidate for Teacher of the Year.

On Tuesday, March 14, Eagle Bend High School Students entered the District Instrumental Solo and Ensemble contest, held at the Clarissa High School. Eagle Bend entered 23 different entries of which 14 received superior ratings.
