The Eagle Bend United Methodist women donated 30 Teddy bears to the Eagle Bend Volunteer Fire Department. The Teddy bears will be used by the fire, rescue and police departments for children that are involved in disturbing situations to ease the children’s fears. The bears were hand-sewn from different fabrics and were made with the caring hands of mothers and grandmothers from the U.M.W. Pictured are: Steve Weishair, fire chief; Minnie Otterstetter, Iris Greene, Marlene Taber, Carol Hammond, Delores George and Dorothy Nordstrom.

Navy Airman Curtis A. Marcyes, son of Sheldon R. and Leona M. Marcyes of Eagle Bend, is currently aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation which recently participated with more than 15,000 sailors, marines, airmen and coast guardsmen in a pre-deployment exercise in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

For the second time in the past years the clinic and office belonging to Dr. El. H. Smith has been robbed. The last break-in and subsequent robbery occurred sometime during the night of Thursday, March 30.

Wally Beckstron, owner and operator of the Eagle Bend Cafe since 1949, passed away at the Dakota Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at approximately 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 1972.
