News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

May 28, 1997

The Eagle Valley Rebels won the Subsection 24 championship last Thursday in Browerville to advance in the Section 6A tournament on Tuesday, May 27. The Rebels defeated Browerville in the first round, Wadena-Deer Creek in the semifinals and Staples-Motley in the finals. The victories gave the Rebels an 11-4 record for the season heading into the sections. This was the first subsection softball championship for Eagle Valley.

The television tower belonging to the local school district has much in common with an old maid. In their heyday, they were sought after by everyone. But as age advances in technology occur, they stood alone. Suddenly, the tower has two suitors (UTT and Rural Cellular) who are both interested in obtaining the rights to the tower.


50 Years Ago

May 25, 1972

Duane Clementson was voted the most valuable player on the 1972 Eagle Bend baseball team by his teammates last Thursday.

Dianne Krause, a student at Eagle Bend High School in her junior year, has been selected to participate in the Youth Conservation Corps which is sponsored by Bemidji State College and Minnesota State Department of Conservation.
