Adam Hinrichs, small engine mechanic at Hess Equipment, Inc. in Eagle Bend, and a resident of Rose City, won two top state awards and was one of the top nine in the nation. He competed in the national motorcycle service technology competition in Kansas City, Missouri the last week of June. He was one of the top nine qualifiers in the nation in the post-secondary class.

Jenny Anderson of Eagle Bend had a wood tick just above her ankle a few weeks ago. She didn’t think anything about it. A short time later she developed a rash on her stomach which then moved to her legs, hands and feet. She tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Mark DeBow, physician's assistant, has treated Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever before, just not in Minnesota.
50 Years Ago
July 6, 1972
Faith Lutheran Church of Eagle Bend will have the dedication of its new church building on Sunday, July 9. The main address will be given by Dr. Edward Hansen, president of the Southwest Minnesota District of the American Lutheran Church. Many former pastors and sons of the congregation will be taking part in this service.

Bruce Eckel of the Sod Busters 4-H Club of Eagle Bend was named Champion Holstein exhibitor at the Lake Region Dairy Show held June 21 in Wadena. Bruce exhibited a registered advanced Holstein. Bruce won the $200 award for the top purebred animal two years ago so he was not eligible to receive it again.
