The Eagle Valley School Board dealt with several personnel issues at their August 11 meeting. The board accepted the resignation of Todd Lubben, vocational ag instructor. Last month he had asked for a three-year leave of absence to rejuvenate the ag program in Buffalo, but his request was denied. Curt Gjerstad, and Eagle Bend High School graduate and former student of Lubben’s was hired to fill the vacancy. Gjerstad has taught at Wahpeton and Campbell-Tintah.

About 100 Clarissa residents met with NSP representatives on Wednesday, August 13 to discuss natural gas options and to sign up for natural gas in their homes and businesses. About 80 signed up for the service at the meeting. Another 80 signed up during Eagle Bend’s meeting on Tuesday night.

Morcomb Implement has scheduled an open house for all farmers in this area on Saturday, August 19. Don Morcomb, owner of Morcomb Implement, says he will unveil Generation Two, the biggest advance in tractors since John Deere introduced the New Generation Tractors 12 years ago.

Ten members of Scout Troop 23, Scoutmaster Laurel Hamilton, Assistant Scoutmaster and Brent Kolstad began the third annual Scout Canoe Trip on Friday, August 4.
