25 Years Ago

September 17, 1997

“We aren’t going to let the inappropriate behavior of a few spoil everything for the good kids,” was the consensus of the Eagle Valley School Board. Inappropriate behavior had become a problem at sporting events, homecoming coronations, snow days and other major school festivities. Several incidences in the past school year kept the telephones of board members and the school administrator ringing as disgusted community members voiced their displeasure. The Student Council had deliberated moving the homecoming coronation and program to the afternoon, instead of the evening. Their other suggestion was to give a breathalyzer test to all participants who will be on stage.

The Rebels played a good week of volleyball as they won two more matches to up their record to 4-0. On Tuesday, September 9, the Rebels played Swanville at home winning easily in three games. The scores were 15-2, 15-2, and 15-9. They played Osakis on Thursday night and beat them in three games.


50 Years Ago

September 14, 1972

The second Conservation Air Tour will be held in conjunction with the 1972 Bertha Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 7.

Governor Wendell R. Anderson was advised this week by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce that Todd County has been designated as a redevelopment area and is classified as eligible for full financial assistance under Title IV of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965.
