News from Eagle Bend's Past

November 12, 1997

To the casual observer seeing a police car drive up to the Eagle Valley High School in Eagle Bend might mean something bad had happened. Wrong! It was probably one of three officers reporting for their teaching duties. Several months ago, Todd County Sheriff David Kircher came across information on a grant that would provide funding to place an officer in a teaching position. Kim Lind, a member of Community United, wrote the grant application. She felt it would produce an opportunity for non-confrontational interaction between the police and the students. Officers who will be teaching at Eagle Valley are deputies Mark Grinstead and Jason Steinert and Eagle Bend Police Chief Ryan VanDenheuvel.
