Gary Johnson and Judy Millbrett presented checks to the Eagle Valley students whose Voice of Democracy articles were selected as winners in the annual contest sponsored by the VFW and Auxiliary. The winners were: Josh Crider, fourth place; Jill Pontius, second place; Amber Benning, third place, and Jackee Svaren, first place.

Special Ed bowlers from Browerville have been using Eagle Lanes in Eagle Bend to practice for the upcoming Special Olympics. Eagle Lanes has donated the use of their facility for practice time. The group participated in the State Bowling Olympics in Brooklyn Center on Friday. Their state results are in parentheses. Kris Galligher (3rd), Greg Lamusga (6th), Carrie Mensen (4th), Kevin Kurpiers (3rd), Heather Zigan (2nd), Scott Bentz (5th), Josh Thompson (7th) and Brian Bentz (4th). The first drawing of the Eagle Bend Commercial Club sponsored promotion was held on Saturday, November 25. Miss Mabel Dettinger, who was present in one of the participating stores, received $25 in trade coupons; Mrs. Julius Klebs, $10 trade coupon; and Carl Bergstrom, a $5 trade coupon.

Louis Garbe of West Saint Paul was a visiting artist on Tuesday evening at the Adult Art Drawing and Painting Class at the Eagle Bend School. His classic oil paintings, rich in detail and depicting landscapes, were enjoyed and appreciated by those who viewed the work.
