25 Years Ago

January 21, 1997

Danny Smith of Eagle Bend has begun a new business endeavor. He will be selling, servicing, and providing support for computers. The computers will be custom-built by Smith and will be IBM-compatible. He will also sell printers and accessories. His prices will be as competitive or better than comparable systems. He will provide limited telephone support to anyone and will help with internet and e-mail set-up. He will service computers at his home where his business is located. This month Smith is offering a special computer system and monitor for $999. He will also offer financing.

Eagle Valley Snow Days king and queen candidates are: Matt Mittag, Dustin Alexander, Jason Martinson, Bill Zeidler, Rob Henrich, Alesha Murch, Jill Pontius, Arin Stoterau, Maija Wiltermuth and Jenny Erickson. Coronation will be held on Monday, January 26 at the high school auditorium at 8 p.m. The coronation program kicks off a week of activities culminating with the snow sculptures on Friday.

January 24, 1957

Pastor Clarence Anderson resigned from the Petri Lutheran Church of Eagle Bend at the close of the morning worship last Sunday, January 20. He, together with his family, intends to leave the latter part of March to assume the pastorate of Trinity and Sillerud congregations at Balaton, Minnesota.

The card party, sponsored by the Eagle Creek Locals of the Farmers Union held on January 19, was well attended. Members of the planning committee were: Mrs. Paul Stork, Clarence Piepho, and Wesley Pooler. The following men prepared the hall for the event: Clarence Piepho, Ed Peterson, Ed Stenger, Oliver Blombeck, and Orville Sarff.
