The Eagle Valley Snow Daze Queen and King were crowned Monday evening. Jennifer Erickson, daughter of Byron and Barb Erickson was crowned queen, and Dustin Alexander, son of Kay and Danny Alexander, is the king. The couple will reign over the week-long activities which include special dress-up days and a snow sculpture competition on Friday. The week will end with a dance Saturday night in Clarissa.

Brandon Olson of Clarissa was the lucky winner of a Ski-Doo Mini Z snowmobile. The new snowmobile was won at Hess Equipment, Inc. in Eagle Bend. Randy Hess, the proprietor, awarded the new sled to Olson. The 118cc sled is designed for 8 to 12 years old and retails for $1799. The winner was drawn from nine Ski-Doo dealers in the heartland region.

On Thursday evening, January 31, one of your neighbors will visit your home to explain how you can join the 1957 March of Dimes and help finish the polio job. This neighbor of yours is called a marching mother and is one of the unsung heroines in the fight against polio.

An outstanding example of community service on behalf of the Youth Firearms Safety Training Program was revealed recently by Lee Kulvar, state coordinator for the program. The Minnesota Power and Light Company of Duluth has agreed to furnish a complete set of firearms safety training films to each of the 12 counties, of which Todd County is included.
