Jill Pontius was recently chosen as the 1998 winner of the AAA Award at Eagle Valley High School. The daughter of Jim and Pam Pontius of Eagle Bend, Jill is a senior at EVHS. She has constantly been on the “A” honor roll and recently was named the valedictorian of her graduating class. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and is the president of the student council, and is also a two-year member of a very successful Knowledge Bowl Team. Jill has been a six-year member of band and choir, cast member in full-length and One Act plays and speech. She is a six-year member of volleyball, basketball and softball programs.

Scott Harris is an extra in the new Bruce Willis film, “Mercury Rising.” He appears in the opening scene and is one of the FBI agents. Scott is completing his junior year at Grant College in Lake Forest, Illinois. He is a 1994 graduate of Eagle Valley High School.

Ardith Radueg was chosen by the school and by the American Legion Auxiliary to go on to Girls State in June. Some of the qualifications of the girl chosen are: she must be a junior, in the upper one-third of her class scholastically and have a good personality. She should be of a good moral character, should have qualities of leadership, courage, honesty and cooperativeness and an interest in political science and government.

Art Radueg of Eagle Bend was recently proclaimed county corn growing champion at the banquet held in Alexandria in honor of northern Minnesota corn growing champions. His yield of 111.58 bushels per acre was the top yield in Todd County in the 1956 National Selected Five Acre DeKalb Corn Growing Contest.
