V.G. Hedner, author of “The Big Swede,” met Elmer Carlson last Thursday while visiting the Eagle Bend Library and Historical Museum. Hedner’s visit was the result of a sleepless night by Carlson. Killing the wee hours one night Carlson was listening to the radio and heard an interview with Hedner and a review of his book. He thought it sounded interesting so he checked it out from the library and told Carol Becker about it. Becker followed through and invited Hedner to speak during the Library Open House last week. The crowd was entertained by Hedner’s knowledge of early history in Minnesota. Following his presentation he autographed copies of his book.
