Eagle Bend Farm and Lumber Supply is getting its first facelift since the building was built in 1914. It used to be the Ford garage and was lined with Model T’s. Duane Grewe Construction is doing the remodeling.

Betty Hedstrom, English teacher at the high school, is this year’s Eagle Valley Teacher of the Year. Hedstrom began teaching at Eagle Bend in 1984. Her teaching career began in 1955 and she took time off when her children were little. During those years Hedstrom did substitute teaching in the Wadena school system, worked as a long-term substitute and taught Spanish as a second language.

Last Monday, at about 5:30 p.m., as merchants and employees were beginning to think about going home at the end of the busy day, and the rest of the village was at peace with the world—all of a sudden came the blaring sound of a burglar alarm! This, of course, brought many people out on the streets to find out what was going on. Here are the facts—the manager of the local liquor store, Mr. Arnold Christenson, opened the place of business as usual on Monday morning, and being eager to get at his duties, overlooked turning off the alarm.

Carl and Gladys dropped a card to the “News” the first of the week saying they had visited the museum in Denver, Colorado, and also visited Buffalo Bill’s grave on Lookout Mountain, west of Denver.
