Minnesota ENABLE (Education Now and Babies Later) has been around since 1996. It is a community based abstinence education program that is offered to schools and communities in the Freshwater Education District. This year, MN ENABLE is coming to Eagle Valley. Coordinator Lisa Kajer wants the community to be involved, “The community needs to say we believe in our teens postponing sexual involvement”.

Chuck Pieper, president of the Clarissa Lions Club, and John Romstad, commander of the American Legion Post 213 of Clarissa, presented checks to Mike Roers, Eagle Valley High School instructor. The money will help cover expenses for the Britain Bound students.

A group of business men from Eagle Bend met with the county commissioners on Monday afternoon to see about getting the road south of Eagle Bend regraded and black-topped. It was pointed out to the commissioners that this road was under consideration for many years. A road check map displayed the county engineer showed that traffic on the proposed tarred road justifies getting the job done.

Lauren Schroeder of the Sodbuster’s 4-H Club of Eagle Bend will attend the National 4-H Club Congress held December 1-5 in Chicago for winning the state 4-H dairy achievement award. Lauren is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroeder of rural Eagle Bend.
