News from Eagle Bend's Past

January 6, 1999

As of December 24, the Eagle Bend Oil Company, owned by Ron Motl, is no longer selling gasoline or diesel fuel. His station was the only one along U.S. Highway 71 from Wadena to Sauk Centre that offered full-service pumps. Motl said the Underground Tank Laws cut off date was December 22, allowing him to sell what was left. He would have to sink $15,000-$20,000 into those old underground tanks to bring them into compliance or spend up to $75,000 for new ones.
