Eagle Valley Township had a write-in contest for supervisor. Duane Peterson was challenged by Steve Hinzmann; each receiving eight votes. Peterson was re-elected when a coin toss decided the winner.

According to Superintendent Dale Svaren, the following business was transacted at the March 8 Eagle Valley School Board meeting. Potential changes in enrollment for the coming year found the board discontinuing three programs or positions. Those include the half-time English position currently held by Mrs. Onni Sharp-Anderson, reduction of Nancy Aspengren’s Early Childhood position from 50 percent to 40 percent and terminating the boys and girls golf program.

Ernie and Diane Silbernagel of St. Peter will officially take over as publishers of Eagle Bend News and Bertha Herald on March 15, 1979.

On Friday night, March 6, the Eagle Bend High School’s Sno Daze week climaxed with the crowning of Julie Beach and Mark Pommier as queen and king. The week of March 5-9 was full of activities for the students. There were championships throughout the week in ping-pong, chess, checkers, free throws and arm wrestling.
