Tony Pangal of St. Paul will begin duties as chief of police in Eagle Bend on Monday, April 19. Pangal has been employed by the St. Paul Police Department as a patrol officer in the Operations Division for the last four years. He also played football for Concordia College. Pangal says he’s looking forward to a quieter lifestyle away from the Twin Cities and closer to the hunting and fishing of northern Minnesota.

Lance Dehn and Mike Stoterau painted a glaze onto their pottery. “We do it so the pots are colorful when they come out of the kiln,” said Mike. Lance had a baseball theme on his pot and Mike was painting 4-H symbols. Melissa Thornberg was making a dream catcher. According to Melissa, “Each person puts on their dream catcher what it symbolizes to them.” Megan Taylor who also made a dream catcher said, “ Bad dreams get caught in the net and disappear in the morning. The good dreams float to the person sleeping and fill them with good thoughts and happiness.”

A birthday party honoring Mrs. Ella Johnson on her 74th birthday was held on Sunday afternoon, March 31, and it also included celebrating the birthday of her son, Glen. Hosting the festivities were her son Glen and a friend of the family Barbara Forbes.

The first class of Veteran’s Farm Management at Eagle Bend will complete the present program on August 31 of this year. At that same time there will be a nucleus of nine students remaining from the present class with eligibility for additional educational benefits.
