J.J. Korfe, the son of Jerry and Linda Korfe, recently spent a week at the state capitol in St. Paul working as an intern for State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba. J.J. is a sophomore at Eagle Valley High School.

The Parkers Prairie Panthers beat Eagle Valley 6-3 in the opening game of the season. They played on the Rebels home field. Walks and errors were the difference in the game as Rebels pitchers walked eight. The defense was also a little shaky as Rebels fielders committed 5 errors.

The F&A Cheese Company of Bertha and the Bertha Area Development Corporation announced this week that the Environmental Processors, Inc., a Minneapolis based engineering firm, has been engaged by the F&A Cheese Company of Bertha to prepare the necessary plans and specifications and to acquire the necessary permits from the various federal and state agencies for the construction of a milk receiving station in Bertha.

“Farmers have stuck with their New Year’s resolutions to expand their crop acres this spring,” said Erma Koepke, executive director of Todd County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. As of January 1, farmers intended to plant more wheat, corn and cotton than they did in 1973.
