News from Eagle Bend's Past


25 Years Ago

June 9, 1999

Bonnie Alsleben from Long Prairie and Donna Pearson from Eagle Bend bowled in the State Doubles competition and placed first in the state. They bowl at Eagle Lanes in Eagle Bend for the Independent News Herald team. They bowled Division I which is all bowlers with a 151 or above average. Doubles bowling took place at Village North in Brooklyn Park. Donna’s average is 592 and Bonnie’s is 692. They placed first against 1793 other doubles bowling teams.

The Rebels boys golf team had a very competitive season placing anywhere from second to sixth. At the end of the season one golfer had a shot at making All-Conference, and that was Mike Aspengren. Aspengren received the MVP Award and Andy Kuperus received the Most Improved Player Award for the Eagle Valley Golf Team.

45 Years Ago

June 13, 1979

Undoubtedly, you have noticed a drop in the pay price for milk. We believe you are entitled to an explanation. By late summer we will see a turn around and once again milk prices will go back up.

The school library will be open for public use beginning Wednesday, June 19. The hours that the library will be open are in the afternoon from 1-3 p.m.
