25 Years Ago

June 30, 1999

A good word to describe Elvin Seward of Eagle Bend would be dependable. He has been on the city council for the past eight and a half years and is just retiring from the fire department after 21 years of service. He worked at the Osakis Creamery for 39 years, worked for the Eagle Bend Creamery Association and is currently the chief engineer at the Land O’ Lakes Creamery in Browerville.

Garfield would look like a kitten compared to an Eagle Bend cat named Puff Puff! Joan and Dennis Reierson live with Puff Puff, who the last time he was on a scale weighed in at 23.5 pounds. They were preparing to leave from down south for their trip home when tourists came with cameras. They wanted proof of Puff Puff’s size!


45 Years Ago

July 4, 1979

Bruce Nelson, legislative candidate for Todd and western Morrison counties, has been attending a series of coffee parties in District 12A. One of the purposes of the these meetings is to report on the 1974 GOP convention held in Duluth, June 20-22.

Private Arnold C. Roth, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Roth of rural Eagle Bend, completed eight weeks of basic training at the U.S. Army Training Center, Infantry, Fort Dix, New Jersey.
