August 25, 1999
On August 17, before the sun came up, 46 people boarded a Utopia bus and headed south, destination Omaha, Nebraska. The Hoe and Hope Garden Club members and their guests were looking forward to a fun time. They stopped at Wilmar for breakfast, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota for lunch and Blair, Nebraska for supper.

The Double Eagle ladies had their three person scramble tournament on August 19. There were seven teams participating in the tournament. This year’s winner was the team of Verna Thompson, Vicki Perish and Kathy Yates.

In a business transaction completed last week, Lois E. Hayenga, owner, editor and publisher of the Eagle Bend News, announced the sale of publication rights and the subscription list of the Eagle Bend News to Rex Clay Jr. and Barbara, the editor and publisher of the Browerville Blade.

Members of the junior class of Eagle Bend High School will launch a magazine subscription sale on August 28, 1974 and will continue the drive until September 11, 1974. The class hopes to raise $700 for junior senior prom and the banquet.
